Terms of Use

These terms define your V1 reader license, finite built-in voice allowance, optional top-ups, and supported reading workflow.

Eligibility and V1 license

ReadAlongPDF.online is a local-first web application operated by Jianbo Ying in Shanghai, China. You must be at least 18 years old, or the legal age to enter this agreement where you live, to create an account or buy a license.

The V1 license is for one person and may be active on up to three browser profiles. It unlocks the listed V1 reading features for supported English text-layer PDFs in supported desktop Chrome and Edge versions. It does not include OCR, mobile support, cloud PDF storage, cross-device document sync, a TTS subscription, or every PDF or endpoint. Your files and progress stay in each browser and may be lost if browser storage is cleared.

Built-in voice and optional BYO

The $29 V1 purchase includes 10 hours of built-in English audio generation. An active license holder may buy an optional 20-hour top-up for $9. Neither purchase renews automatically. A guest may use 5 minutes of generation once per browser identity, and an email-verified account receives 30 additional minutes once per account. Both may start on any supported page. No card is required. These are generated-audio minutes, including successful prefetch, not a guarantee of time actually heard. Free capacity may be temporarily unavailable; this does not consume personal minutes. Built-in voice sends requested sentences through our server to DeepInfra. We are responsible for supporting this integration; please contact us if it fails.

Allowance counts the duration of newly generated audio at normal speed, rounded up to the millisecond per clip. Playback speed does not change the charge. Up to two prefetched sentences count even if not heard. Recent audio cached in the same tab replays without another charge; regeneration after reload, cache eviction, or a new session consumes allowance again. Failed generation releases its reserved allowance. If an audio download is interrupted after generation, contact support for a correction instead of repeatedly generating it.

Allowance does not reset monthly or expire merely because you do not use it. It is usable while this service operates, is not cash, is not transferable, and cannot be used as a general-purpose API. Running out does not revoke the reader license; you may choose a top-up or your own endpoint. Safety limits may temporarily pause generation. If we permanently discontinue built-in voice, we will notify account holders and refund unused purchased allowance proportionately: $9 × unused fraction for each top-up, and $4.50 × unused fraction of the included 10 hours. This allocation does not limit the 14-day full-refund policy or mandatory consumer remedies.

You may instead configure your own compatible TTS endpoint. You authorize your browser to send the chosen sentence and credentials directly to that provider. You are responsible for that provider’s charges, permissions, reliability, and terms. Do not use an endpoint or PDF you are not authorized to use.

Price and updates

The price is shown before checkout. The V1 price is USD $29 as a one-time charge with no automatic renewal; taxes may be added based on location. Purchases through Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ) are processed by Creem as merchant of record and are subject to the Creem Buyer Terms. ReadAlongPDF.online remains responsible for product access and support. A purchase includes 12 months of feature updates. After that period, you retain the purchased V1 capabilities while the service continues to operate; separately priced future major features are not included. We do not promise lifetime operation or permanent browser compatibility.

Acceptable use

You may not use the service to violate copyright, bypass DRM, attack networks, share accounts, probe other users, introduce malware, or interfere with access controls. We may suspend access needed to protect users, investigate fraud, comply with law, or address a material breach. We will not use suspension to avoid an otherwise valid refund.

Service boundary

The service is provided with reasonable care but complex PDFs, browser storage, networks, and third-party TTS services can fail. It is not a certified assistive technology, medical device, legal or educational advice service, or a substitute for a screen reader. To the extent permitted by law, liability for ordinary claims is limited to the amount you paid for the license; this does not exclude rights or liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Product and intellectual-property notice

ReadAlongPDF.online does not generate advice, summarize a document, verify its accuracy, or obtain rights to it. Text-to-speech audio is generated by DeepInfra for built-in voice, or the endpoint you choose for BYO. You must have lawful access to each PDF and permission to process it through that endpoint. The service does not remove DRM, host public files, or grant rights to reproduce or distribute documents or audio. Highlighting and reading order can be wrong on complex layouts; check the original page for authoritative content. The service is not certified for medical, safety-critical, examination accommodation, or professional reliance.
